Men’s Mental Health Month

June is Men’s Mental Health Month, a time to remind one another that no one should have to carry grief, depression, or life’s struggles alone.

The statistics are sobering: Men die by suicide at nearly four times the rate of women and account for nearly 80% of all suicide deaths. Nearly half of all men also admit they feel more depressed than they let on to the people in their lives. These numbers remind us how important it is to check in on one another and to speak openly about our struggles.

If you are grieving the loss of a loved one, struggling with depression, or simply having a difficult time, please know that you are not alone. We encourage you to reach out. Sometimes healing begins with a conversation.

If someone you know has experienced a loss, please take the time to check on them. A phone call, a visit, or simply letting them know you’re thinking about them can make more of a difference than you realize.

Many people find comfort in visiting the resting place of a loved one. Sitting quietly, sharing memories, praying, or even speaking aloud to them can bring peace during difficult times. Sometimes, just being with them and expressing what is on your heart can help you take the next step forward.

And while you’re here, we invite you to stop into our office before or after your visit. We’d love to hear a story about your loved one. Sharing memories keeps their legacy alive, and it is our privilege to listen.

From all of us at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, we want you to know that grief doesn’t have a timeline, and seeking support is a sign of strength.

You are never alone, and your story matters.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis or thoughts of suicide, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Help is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
