Obituary For Geneva Ruth Green
Geneva Ruth Green, 81, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, in Holland, Michigan.
Geneva was born on June 14, 1944, in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Osie Price and Emma (Dicie) Price.
Along with her parents, Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Green.
Left to cherish the memory of Geneva is her son, Phillip (Lawanda) Bailey; grandchildren, Marc Bailey, Jessica Jackson, and Naomie DeJonge, and six great grandchildren.
Geneva was a hardworking and caring woman who believed in carrying her own weight and doing what she could for others. She worked at Wonderland Supermarket in Niles before finding a calling in home health care, where she spent her time caring for those in need. After suffering an injury that no longer allowed her to work, she retired and later met Phillip McCauley. Together they welcomed her only son, Phillip Bailey, who was one of the greatest joys of her life.
On January 24, 1981, Geneva married the love of her life, James Edward Green. The two shared many years together filled with love and devotion until his passing on March 15, 2026. Geneva loved him deeply and cherished the life they built together.
Geneva enjoyed talking with people and never met a stranger. She loved family gatherings and treasured every moment spent with those she loved. In her free time, she enjoyed arts and crafts, drawing, writing short stories, and collecting photographs. She proudly kept many photo albums filled with memories of family and friends. She was also devoted to caring for her mother and always made sure her family had what they needed.
One of the happiest moments in Geneva’s life was learning she would become a great-grandmother. Her family meant everything to her, and she took pride in being there for each generation.
Above all, Geneva was a woman of strong faith who believed deeply in God. She was a faithful member of Bethel Apostolic Tabernacle and found comfort and strength in her church family and her relationship with the Lord.
Geneva will be remembered for her kind heart, her strong spirit, her faith, and the love she gave so freely to those around her.
Visitation for Geneva will be on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 10:00am to 11:00am with a Funeral Service to be held at 11:00am at Brown Funeral Home, 521 East Main St. Niles, Michigan 49120. Burial will immediately follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, 61453 M-51, Niles, Michigan 49120.
