Obituary For Jane Elizabeth Clevenger
Jane Elizabeth Clevenger, 91, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, in Mishawaka, Indiana. Born to Clark and Stella (Colegrove) Rhodes on June 29, 1934, in Niles, Michigan, Jane's life was a testament of dedication to family, friends, and the many lives she touched.
A 1952 graduate of Niles High School, Jane worked as a beautician for many years, a career where her artistry and warmth brought joy and comfort to countless individuals. She also worked in the factory at National Standard, which is where she would go on to meet her late husband, Edward Clevenger. She went on to work with Niles Community School Systems from which she retired, leaving behind a legacy of commitment and care.
Throughout her life, Jane was a devout member of Hope Community Church, where her unwavering faith and service were a testament to her loving heart and spirit.
Family was the cornerstone of Jane's life. With the passing of her parents, Clark and Stella Rhodes, her loving husband Edward Clevenger, her dear brother William Rhodes, her sister Rosemary Barnes, and her great-grandson Cody Caraway, Jane's resilience and strength were evident.
She was the loving mother to her children, Paul (Vivian) Shrider III, Tracy (Clark) Baugher, Ronald (Wanda) Clevenger, Cindy Caraway, and Lisa (Joe) Emmons. The legacy of Jane's love and wisdom lives on through her eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who have been imbued with her courage, grace, and kindheartedness.
Among her fondest pastimes were her stitch club gatherings, playing card games that sparked joy and competitiveness, losing herself in the pages of a good book, and savoring the moments spent at family cookouts and fish fry's. These occasions were cherished by Jane and those who knew her and will be fondly remembered as celebrations of life and laughter.
Services for Jane, led by Pastor Mike Smith, will be held at Brown Funeral Home on Monday, March 23, at 2:00pm, with the family receiving guests beginning at 12:00pm.
Memorial contributions in Jane's name may be made to Hope Community Church and The Berrien County Animal Control.
Jane Elizabeth Clevenger's memory will forever be cherished and honored by all who were fortunate enough to walk a while alongside her on her journey. The heavens have indeed received an extraordinary soul who will be remembered as much for her tenacity and resilience as for her unwavering love and kindness.
Mission Hills Memorial Chapel Crematory and Gardens will be entrusted with the cremation.
